When the Boucicaut family opened the first modern department store, they changed how Parisians, and then the world, do their shopping. Once they had transformed retail commerce, their decision to innovate hospitality was almost an afterthought. Their store was such a runaway success, that their many suppliers, bringing luxuries from afar, needed a comfortable place to spend the night. The board of 'Le Bon Marché' decided to open a modern, palace-inspired, luxury hotel in Paris, directly across from their famous store. Following a complete renovation and restoration, the Lutetia re-opened in July 2018.

  • Hotel Lutetia originally opened in 1910 to host the Bon Marché department store customers. The building is significant in Paris for embodying the transition from art nouveau to the emerging style of art deco.
  • Renovated by world-class architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who paid homage to the history of the building, sensitively restoring grand historic areas and combining them with a graceful contemporary design.
  • Lutetia is the only modern grand hotel located on the Let Bank, situated right in the heart of vibrant St Germain-des-Pres, the ideal spot for shopping, browsing the numerous bookshops, antique shops and art galleries and visiting some of the famous Paris’ museums.
  • 184 guestrooms and suites have been created with grace and elegance, reflecting everything that makes Paris special. They let you experience exceptional contemporary luxury in one of the city’s most historic hotels, where tradition blends seamlessly with modernity and comfort.
  • The Lutetia delivers an authentic Parisian experience and has been at the heart of the local community for more than 100 years. This gastronomic destination now features an eclectic selection of restaurants, bars and lounges throughout the historical ground floor, including the return of the famous Lutetia Brasserie.
  • Seven signature suites, individually designed including two penthouse suites with private access to terraces as large as 70 sqm and boasting an unrivalled 360-degree view of Paris.
  • From nutrition to meditation, and yoga to Watsu, Akasha Holistic Wellbeing provides expert treatments, therapies and training. It features a double treatment Akasha Suite, lap pool, a private hammam, jacuzzi and state-of-the-art gym.
  • The Lutetia has always been an iconic address on the Left Bank, ideal for all events in Paris. 700sqm of banqueting space including five meeting rooms and the historic ‘Salon Cristal’ ballroom for up to 300 people.
  • Lutetia has a storied past and quickly became the place where the obscure and the famous could be found together debating art, philosophy, science and politics, shaping the ideas of the future. Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce, Picasso, Matisse and Josephine Baker were amongst the regular visitors to the hotel. Lutetia now offers both Parisians and visitors to the city a space to be engaged, inspired and transformed in the Living Room of Paris.
